Child and Adolescent Services

Psychological evaluations are available at Whitten Psychological Services for children, adolescents and young adults. The psychological evaluation is a useful tool in determining why an individual is experiencing difficulties in school, to answer complex questions about one's functioning, to clarify diagnosis, and to inform treatment. Based on information we gather through a clinical interview, we will determine which of the following are most appropriate:

ADHD Testing – determines the presence of an Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

Autistic/Developmental Delay Disorder – determines the presence of a Developmental Delay Disorder

Intelligence/Adaptive Behavior Testing – determines cognitive strengths and growth areas, as well as level of adaptive functioning  (mental retardation/giftedness)

Learning Disability Testing – determines the presence of a Learning Disorder (reading, writing, and mathematics)

Psychological assessment – assess emotional, behavioral and adaptive functioning to answer complex questions or identify diagnoses that may underlie areas of difficulty. Psychological evaluations are useful in clarifying symptoms and underlying explanations of:

Behavioral Problems
Relationship/Interpersonal Problems
Depressive Disorders
Anxiety Disorders
Psychotic Disorders
Adjustment Problems
Change in Cognitive Functioning
